Steven Senn and Daniel Groover started working on their current Album, Life After Rome, right about the time of the shut-downs in 2020. Coming up with over 20 new ideas, they zeroed in on 8 songs that seem to fit together like a story. It tells the story of a life, and is a snapshot of a certain time and place.
Very special thanks to each and every artist and engineer that contributed to the album. We could not have done this without you!
Life After Rome: Cast and Crew
-
Sonny added the most important contribution to Millions of Miles. His drumbeat drove the song to where it wanted to live. He lifted it up with a Stewart Copeland-esque groove that sent the song to the next level. That’s why he’s the man!! Thank you Sonny!!
-
Jeff played drums and helped arrange “3:55”. His contributions go beyond that as a teacher for Groover, and ultimately for I.O.Z entirely. His teachings bled into many aspects of this album and raised the bar. He’s a Jedi and we love him!
-
Darren played the lovely, mind bending drums on Glitch In the System. He’s a veteran of the Atlanta music community and a long time friend. He and Daniel met through the Kevin Scott jams in Atlanta and had many great times outside the realms of musical sanity. It was an honor to capture some of that on the new album with him.
-
Kevin laid down the drum tracks for City Lights and Movin Around. He tours regularly with Saint Paul & The Broken Bones and is a staple in the Atlanta community. Thank you, Mr. Leon!
-
Greg played drums on Habits and Matamoros. His drums were recorded in Stonehenge at ZAC Recording. He also toured during the early years with I.O.Z. Thanks Greg! Nice job!!
He’s been around…

Kevin made some huge contributions to this album. He played bass on Photo Weapon, Movin Around, Glitch In the System and 3:55. He also turned some of his musical peers onto the project like Matt Slocum, Spencer Pope and Darren Stanley. Kevin helped write Under the Sky from the 2010 self-titled album. He’s been a part of I.O.Z’s friends and family since the beginning. We hate you, Kevin! Boooooo!!!
-
Alex laid down that sweet bass on Habits. He and Daniel toured together from 2012 to 2015 in the funk/ rock outfit know as Lingo. We’re happy to have him working with us!
-
Jon has been a part of the I.O.Z community for a long time. He played bass with the band during the old touring days. Jon killed the triplet notes in Matamoros and helped to glue the rhythm section together in City Lights. Thanks brother!

Patrick Postlewait is an Atlanta-based multi-instrumentalist musician, songwriter, sound designer and audiobook editor. In the early 2000s, his path in the music business began playing bass in a wide variety of live acts: experimental hip hop, pop punk, r&b, folk, progressive rock and indie.
His interest in writing and recording music originated growing up in the 80s in rural Paris, Illinois with his lifelong friend Simon Illa, where they spent much of their free time learning metal and alternative songs on guitar and experimenting with cheap drum machines, 4-track recorders and household items for percussion. At the same time, Pat was heavily involved in school band ensembles on trumpet, which gave him a deeper appreciation for classical, jazz, and musical theater.
In 2006, Patrick moved out to Philadelphia to reunite in the studio with Simon Illa, who had built a successful career as a music producer there. In 2007, a fateful trip to work in famed Atlanta studio Stankonia(home of Outkast) led them to relocate permanently to the south and become part of a very eclectic and welcoming music community on Antone St. Over the next several years, Patrick played guitar and bass on many of Simon’s productions at Stankonia and next door at Jim Zumpano’s ZAC Recording Community.
During that time, he also started playing live and touring extensively with Outkast’s Purple Ribbon label act Vonnegutt and hometown shows with IOZ, a progressive rock act built around ZAC musicians Daniel Groover and songwriter Steven Senn. By 2013, having enjoyed touring the country playing festivals such as Lollapalooza, SXSW, Austin City Limits, and Vans Warped Tour, Patrick turned his focus exclusively to studio work and spending more time with his wife Lauren.
Since then, he has continued to work on many songs with Simon and others, and branched out to include session playing, co-writing and co-production for artists and producers such as Wale, The Lonely Island, Big K.R.I.T., Thutmose, Matt B, The Dream, Alicia Keys, Tricky Stewart, Needlz, No Credit and Twnty-47. Much of his songwriting and production collaboration in recent years has also been with longtime friend and 4-time Grammy winning engineer/producer Sam Thomas.
Since 2019, along with continued production work, Patrick has also put his interest in sample creation and synthesizers to use doing work with sound design team 12 Bit Soul and others, including several sample libraries and synth presets for Native Instruments and Akai. In addition, he has put his years of audio editing experience to use doing post-production on audiobooks for over a hundred titles with Banvard Audio.
In 2022, He is also currently working with IOZ to return to live shows and promote their second album ‘Life After Rome’.

Matt murdered the Clav on Photo Weapon! He’s one of the most sought after keyboard players in the southeast and possibly the U.S. We’re lucky to have caught the lightning in the bottle that is Matt Slocum. You can find him at…
-
Jon has been with the group since the beginning. His contributions have been a big part of I.O.Z’s existence. Jon created the insane Rhodes parts in 3:55, and played the melodic piano parts in Millions of Miles. He’s also responsible for building Soundscape Studios which ultimately became Stankonia, home of Outkast. That home expanded into what made this whole community. His story deserves a book. Thanks Jon!! Do better next time!
-
Spencer laid down the tasty organ tracks in City Lights and wove the string synths throughout Glitch In the System. This guy is good!
-
Dan stepped in and played the fluid violin parts in Millions of Miles. We stacked and layered all the parts to build an entire string section. Dan is a long time friend and artist that goes way back to the days of Iratowns. He is currently getting his Phd at Auburn University. Thank you, Dr. Dan!! You taught us more than you know…check him out below!
-
Eric has been around I.O.Z from the top. He executed the horn section in City Lights like the pro he is and even added the lone clarinet part at the end of the song! You’ll even hear him sneak in there on Glitch if you pay attention. Thank you Eric! See ya on stage.
-
Jeff “Huggy” Hunt brought the latin percussion into Matamoros and is now a member of a South American tribe that exists deep in the Amazon forest.
-
What can we say? Without Jim there would be no I.O.Z. He has helped the band to exist on many different levels. From mixing Habits and 3:55 to providing guidance and advice. We thank you Jim Z! You are a great human.
-
Another I.O.Z original, Corey’s contribution to LAR was colossal. He mixed every song on the album with the exception of Habits, Photo Weapon and 3:55. He is a fixture at Blue Door Studio. Thank you so much Corey! Glad that you are a part of the team.
-
Tony has been with I.O.Z since the beginning. His mix on Photo Weapon is great! He and Daniel worked on multiple #1 hits together at ZAC Recording. Another member of the family who deserves more credit than this album. He has raised the bar for I.O.Z over and over from the beginning. T Bone!
-

-
Andrew has an amazing studio in Asheville, NC where I.O.Z tracked Jeff Sipe’s drums on 3:55. For more information about Andrew and Landslide Studio, please follow link below.

Eric is a long time friend and Atlanta artist. He created graphics and show posters for the band in the early days. Love what he did for the album cover! Please check him out at the link below. Thank you Eric!
-
Erick made some awesome contributions to this project. From working with Daniel to create the initial layers in “City Lights”, to editing and finalizing the video for “Glitch In the System”, Erick was a huge help. Thank you, friend of I.O.Z!
